Capital Group is proud to be leading the field by providing Midwifery Supervision to its staff. Since March 2013 we have been encouraging midwives to make the most of supervision by working in partnership with their supervisor.
Supervision of Midwives is a statutory responsibility, which aims to safeguard and enhance the quality of care for the childbearing mother and her family. It provides a mechanism for support and guidance to every practising midwife and student midwife, in the United Kingdom (NMC 2004). Its purpose is to protect women and babies by actively promoting a safe standard of midwifery practice (NMC 2008).
So that we can strengthen statutory Supervision of Midwives for Agency midwives across London, we have three experienced Supervisors of Midwives on our team who are informed by the Statutory Supervision of Midwives LSA Standards for England (2005), the Midwives rules and standards (NMC 2012).
All three Supervisors of Midwives are employed by Capital Group and are for dedicated use by Capital Midwives only.
The aim is to ensure that Supervision of Midwives supports excellence in midwifery practice, by providing midwives employed by Capital Group with professional support and leadership that enables them to be confident and competent practitioners, well equipped to provide the highest standards of evidence based midwifery care which is individual and family centred.
